Beacon Hill Nursery School, Hindheadfbook

WELCOMECALL: 01428 606711

Beacon Hill Nursery School (sister nursery to Butterflies), is a spacious Nursery school based in Hindhead. It is designed to provide a variety of learning experiences for children aged eighteen months to five years.

Vibrant colours and furnishings provide a stimulating and secure learning environment complemented by our large secure grassed outdoors playing area, equipped with a summer house and pirate ship. Activities are well balanced between individual and group play, quiet and noisy activities, structured and free choice. Activities are all designed to ensure children have fun whilst learning. Regular inspection by OFSTED ensures that standards are maintained, and we are also undertaking the quality assurance programme to enhance our setting further. We are also registered to accept the Nursery Education Grant for three and four year olds and FEET funding for the two year olds. Up to 32 children participate in a well-structured day, which prepares them for primary school. All our children will follow the new Early Years Foundation Stage, which comes into force from September 2012, which we have been introducing since April 2012 providing the very best possible start in life. Most of all they will be happy, secure children ready for the challenge of ‘big school’! We offer two settling in periods which can increase in length. We encourage you to visit the Nursery and see for yourself the great environment we offer before you enrol you child.

OUR STAFF

Our manager, Rosie, has joined us from a local day-care where she was Deputy Manager, bringing with her 10 years’ experience across different settings and her foundation degree in early years care and education. The five other members of staff have been with the setting over ten years and share a wealth of experience of the local area and specialists skills including simple French games, cooking skills and visiting the school for PE lessons.

OUR SECURITY

Beacon Hill entrance is secured at all time to prevent unauthorised entry. Only those parents/guardians known to the staff will be allowed to enter and we make sure the door is securely closed on leaving thus not allowing any child to leave the premises unless collected by parent/career.

OUR PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

We encourage complementary settling in visits prior to your child starting our Nursery. This enables both parent and child to become familiar with daily routines and to meet the staff, and for your child to become accustomed to their new surroundings. .

We operate a key worker system, which means one member of staff is more closely involved with your child. You will need to discuss with our staff any changes which may affect your child, as this will help us understand your child better and so to ensure a happy partnership. Our staff are available to help and advise all parents. We also welcome parent help on a Thursday and Monday morning at Beacon Hill as the children visit the local school for PE lessons. We will produce a termly Newsletter to keep you up to date with activities and developments within the Nursery. In addition we hold an open door policy and you are welcome to come in for an informal/formal chat at any time.

French, PE and drama are seen as extra curriculum activity as we are lucky enough to have a second small hall or use of the school hall, where these activities take place. The children follow a programme which allows there knowledge and independence to grow each week within the subject. Mrs Avery (Vivienne) teaches French and Pe and Mrs Malone (Rosie) teaches Drama.
